In an exciting shift in character, I’m playing Bernarda Alba in Bernarda Alba - not what you would expect from one who self-identifies as a *cough* dancer-first *cough.*
But really, this Chekhovian musical by Michael John LaChiusa is about a woman who forces her 5 adult daughters to remain chaste in their home, immediately following their father’s death - making Bernarda an independent matriarch and the head of the household. TO WOMEN!
